For me? Being a college student, one of the hardest parts is finding a place that will simply hire you. Too many places reject you solely on the basis of you being a student and because you are unable to devote every waking hour to their company.
There's that and then there's task of finding an opening where you're able to find experience. Specifically in a management/office setting(s). Secretarial jobs usually come with the request or requirement of one to three years experience of working in an office environment. Difficult to have that under your belt when you're just venturing into that territory...
Internships seem to be the only opening we have to gain experience for any and all careers. Unfortunately, when working through your school, even those can sometimes come with their own set of issues (such as students with financial aid having priority over those of us who don't qualify for free government money). The odds are stacked against us.
